This is a profound question about how we define and claim political power through the stories we tell. The answer lies in creating narratives that give meaning to place, politics and identity, and the "story" of the community is the sum of its personal, cultural, and historical tales. It suggests that ownership is not just about legal claims but is built through shared cultural values, memories, and the deep truths that bind people together.
POLITICAL PARTY AS CONVENING PLATFORM: in our African understanding a political party is not a stepping stone for political careerism, but is a place where people come together under one roof to shape their political future.
COMMUNITY AS A STORYTELLER : to us as African people community is not merely a random place of people. it's a living entity with stories embedded within its people and land. These stories are passed down to generations, connecting people to their ancestral lands.
STORIES CREATE A SENSE OF BELONGING: They give shape and meaning to our identities and establish what a "political party" is.
CHALLENGING THE NARRATIVE: the stories that have been told of us by the politicians, it's a story of despair. We are only called in to come and vote for them nothing more. They don't know who we are, yet they push the narrative that they represent us.
STORIES AS A IDENTITY: stories whether personal, familial, cultural or political define us, Who we are and where we belong. They transmit knowledge, values and history shaping our sense of self and our relationship with the world around us.

SAMMO Proudly formed and led by the community members. South African mass movement was formed in February 2024 and is also Led by the people it serves, reflecting our shared values, interests, and needs. The community is in control of the design and culture of the political party. If the Politicians deviate from this political framework, we are able to hold them accountable as a community and say this is not the nation that we are building. The community is a source of political power and we are responsible for people we elect in political position. SAMMO: is a physical manifestation of our cultural values of Ubuntu, spanning across African generations. It's also a institution of expression of our power. This political party highlights several key aspects about African people:
OWNERSHIP AND IDENTITY: As community members we feel a strong sense of ownership and identity because we are the driving force behind its formation.
GRASSROOTS ORIGIN: It emphasizes a bottom-up approach, where the initiative did not come from politicians above ,but rather emerged organically from within the community itself.
SHARED PURPOSE: The party is built on mutual support, shared values, and trust, which fosters social cohesion and a collective sense of belonging.
REPRESENTATION: It suggests that the party genuinely represents the community's voice and addresses its specific needs and goals, which were understood inherently by us who were involved in its formation.
IN ESSENCE, the "pride" comes from the fact that we local people worked together to build something for ourselves, fostering unity, resilience, and a deep sense of connection.
